Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
AskReno (askreno.sg) is run by one Singapore homeowner. This page explains what the site collects, why, and who else handles it. In short: I keep what's needed to answer your questions, run the AskReno Pass and improve the notes. I don't sell your data, and the site has no advertising or analytics trackers.
Your questions and answers
- Every question and the AI's answer are saved, so I can see what people ask and add what my notes don't cover yet.
- They are saved with a visitor ID: a scrambled (keyed hash) form of your IP address that groups one visitor's questions without storing the IP itself.
- Please don't type personal details, such as your name, address or phone number, into your questions.
Daily question limits
To stop abuse, the site counts questions per day: by your IP address if you don't have a pass, or by your access code if you do.
AskReno Pass
- Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own page. Your card details never reach AskReno.
- From Stripe, AskReno keeps your email address, your access code, the Stripe payment reference and the pass's expiry date.
- Your email is used only to send pass-restore codes when you ask for one, through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES). Restore codes are stored scrambled and deleted once used.
- Pass holders' chats are also saved on the server, linked to the access code, so they show on every device where the pass is active.
Stored in your browser
Your access code and your chat history are kept in your browser's local storage, so the site remembers them between visits. Clearing your browser's site data removes them. The site sets no cookies for visitors.
Who else handles your questions
- Answers are written by an AI model, reached through OpenRouter. Your question and the recent messages in your chat are sent to OpenRouter and the AI model provider to produce the answer.
- The site's web host stores the database and standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested.
Using AskReno in Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini
If you connect AskReno to an AI app, the app sends your question and your access code to askreno.sg/mcp. That question is handled exactly like one asked on the website, as described above. The AI app's own privacy policy covers everything else in that conversation, including what the app decides to send.
How long data is kept
Restore codes are deleted once used. Everything else is kept until you ask for it to be deleted, or until it is no longer needed to run the site.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Email hello@askreno.sg; if you have a pass, include your access code or the email you paid with.
Changes
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed.
